Remedies for balancing Pitta

 

To balance pitta, foods and herbs opposite in nature are consumed.

Foods, which are sweet, cold, light and alkaline in nature should be taken. These include grains, rice and pasta, beans, dairy products (except those salty or sour in taste), sweet drinks and foods.

Watermelons, cucumbers, coconut milk and water are good. Drinking a lot of water and applying a paste of sandalwood on the forehead also helps to reduce pitta.

Purgatives (laxatives) are considered the best therapy for excess pitta, as it is mainly located in the small intestine.

Avoid:

  • Exposure to sun and heat.
  • Too much running and sports.
  • Consumption of hot and spicy food should be avoided.
